Hand fixing tools made from stainless steel bring the most cost-effective solution for maintaining their function when used for repairing, manufacturing, and other uses in the environment. Not only are they affordable, they can even be a lifetime investment because of their expanded lifespan. Stainless steel fixing tools lasts longer than other carbon steel tools and they are more durable as well.
Below is a list of the stainless steel fixing tools now available at your local hardware store:
• Chisel, 420 stainless. Stainless steel chisels are usually manufactured from 420 stainless. Alloys are carefully selected to properly suit the design and intended function of the tool. Durability, hardness, and corrosion resistance in critical environments are among the advantages of this stainless steel tool. Repeated sterilization is required though.
• Stainless steel locking clamps. The tool consists of movable pressure pads to comply to the shape of the piece held and to be able to distribute pressure evenly, providing a firm grip.
• Stainless steel hammer and mallet. The hammer and mallet made from stainless steel are manufactured from 17-4PH stainless. The handles are made of solid stainless steel as well.
• Stainless steel hex keys. Hex keys made from stainless steel are created from 465 stainless steel and are carpenter custom. In spite of the alloy’s numerical name, custom 465 do not belong to “400 series” stainless steel. Instead, it is a precipitation hardening (PH) stainless having the corrosion resistant properties almost similar to that of 304. These hex keys are polished and passivated.
• Stainless steel knives. The stainless steel knives manufactured from the 400 series stainless are retractable and contain 12 segments of 400 series SS blade in 304 SS casing with pocket clip.
• Stainless steel nut drivers. Designed particularly for the use in sterile and critical environments, stainless steel nut drivers have superior resistance to corrosion and are very durable. Some have Zytel nylon or stainless steel handles.
• Stainless locking pliers. The stainless steel locking pliers are usually made from 420 and 304 stainless. Having smooth, rounded edges and hollow rivets, these pliers are good for use in sterile environments. Their flat surfaces allow for easy cleaning, and the their smooth sliding lock enables quick opening and closing using just one hand. the pliers’ body and springs are 304 SS, while jaws jaws are 420 SS.
• Stainless steel Phillips screwdriver. The stainless shaft of Phillips screwdrivers are created from polished and hardened Carpenter 465 stainless steel. This stainless alloy, used in hex keys, offers great strength, elasticity, and hardness.
• Stainless steel open end wrenches. These wrenches are made from 420 stainless steel and are matte finish. They have smooth, rounded edges for easy cleaning and effective sterilization.
• Stainless steel tool boxes. These tool boxes are portable and are the double-hinged hutch type. They are manufactured from 304 stainless steel.
